I have to tell you something exciting!
I am now a designer for Honest Fabric, the new fabric company by Karlee Porter!!!
Karlee has become famous for her stunning graffiti quilting and her latest masterpiece ‘The Royal Huntress’ quilt that was admired by many at the recent Quilt Market. Her latest endeavor is a new fabric company that creates custom printed quilt tops. Not only is it amazing that we can now have digitally printed fabric, which gives us amazing colors and possibilities, but by only printing what we need the environment will be saved from the tons of unnecessary excess of unsold fabric. The company name ‘Honest Fabric’ is also a true testament of their mission statement; compensating the artists fairly while taking into account that the fabrics will be printed in the U.S.A.. Karlee has contacted me to add my design ‘Paint it’ to the collection on the site. I have added various background colors, so you can choose the one you like best. You can get right to filling the open spaces with your gorgeous freemotion quilting and maybe try your hand at some funky grid work! You can find the design here.
Each of the designs the company offers can be printed in 3 different quilt sizes, going from lap quilt to bed quilt. This is what Karlee mentions on her site:
Available in three distinct sizes, this custom printed quilt top is made of a 100% lightweight polyester blend. The fabric is color fast, will not unjustly fade and the ink will not bleed through years of washing. It is machine washable, with cold water on gentle cycle using mild detergent – tumble dry with low heat. Featuring vivid colors and crisp lines, this highly unique and versatile fabric is durable enough for both indoor and outdoor use. It has minimal stretch, and a fine weave.
Working on the computer drawings for ‘Paint it’ has fired my imagination and new ideas for quilt tops are filling my head and filling my desk. Here is a sneak peak of one of them with woodland animals… Of course I will let you know when the design is available on the website!
